UBUCHINGO Calls on Civil Society to Enhance Advocacy on Disability inclusion
Society for Child Protection- UBUCHINGO Acting Executive Director Keiza Sakala has called on Civil Society Organizations to enhance advocacy on issues of disability for improvement to be seen in that sector.
Speaking on Radio Mano in Kasama on 20 November, Mr. Sakala zeroed in on the issue of disability has historically not received the attention it desires in Zambia emphasizing that unless we civil society step-up our advocacy efforts, the disabled will remain discriminated against.
Mr. Sakala noted that persons living with disabilities in Zambia have never fully enjoyed all their rights and have always been lived on the margins of society and discriminated. He noted the number of children with disabilities without access to education still remains unacceptably high. To this effect, UBUCHINGO will continue to provide Mobility aids to those who cannot manage though the need and demand is beyond what the organization.
