Society for Child Protection- UBUCHINGO held a Partners Meeting with key stakeholders from November 19th to 20th 2018 in Lusaka to discuss the new three year strategic direction for fighting Commercial Exploitation of Children in the country. The meeting had representation from key Partners including WFP, CHIN, REPPSI and UNICEF.
Speaking when he officially opened the meeting Ubuchingo Chairperson Bestone Banda said the road that the organisation has taken to reach where it is today has not been easy.
He said the organisation has stood the test of time and has hence gained very useful experience and confidence to face the future challenges.
The Chairperson said the fight against Commercial Exploitation of Children had become more complicated with the increased and sophisticated technology existing in the world today. He noted that the situation calls for concerted efforts stressing that Ubuchingo cannot win this fight as an individual organization needed to join hands with other to pool resources and capabilities together.
He mentioned that this new Strategic Direction will bring in strategic partners to make sure that the issue of violence against children is dealt with in Zambia once and for all.
Expanding on this, Mr. Banda explained how the new direction was aimed at seeing Ubuchingo rise to a level where it would have the capacity to fully handle all child safeguarding by the year 2021. Based on an Organisation Development Assessment which took place in August 2018, it was found prudent to reposition Ubuchingo by bringing in more partners and stakeholders for it to meet its objectives.
